Learning Opportunities
During high school, I had the opportunity to design and construct many fine carpentry pieces.
I learned to use a laser cutter, as well as 15+ specialized wood working machines and a variety of hand tools. After having exposure to machinery for the past 4 years, I am extremely comfortable and dexterous with machining and using power tools. I am eager to continue developing my machining skills.
Going Beyond
Creating custom wooden pens using exotic wood became a hobby and eventually a small business. I did this for 2 years and made approximately 50 pens in total. I am proud of my custom pens because these were projects that allowed me to be creative.
In addition to my custom pens I decided to design and build items such as, a headphone stand and a wooden BBQ scraper. I saw the need for a headphone stand as the market was very expensive for a good one. The BBQ scraper was also something I built because I saw the health benefits of using wood over metal.
